Richard M, came into C-Sec to raise concerns of fraud performed by his Cousin, Albert Martins. Richard had no physical evidence but was insistent that Albert had asked him to assist in a scamming operation. Detective Chellick, recognizing a lack of evidence, did not open an investigation of fraud, instead did allow the squad to investigate possible harassment from Albert against Richard. Officer Clark was stationed outside of Richard's home. Although he noticed Albert made a visit to Richard, there was no other indication of wrongdoing.
Unable to further assist and seeing no crime C-Sec sent Richard away.
Richard, however the very next day went to a different Ward of the Citadel to file an identical complaint and asked Officer Dronak to "Scare Off" his cousin. Dronak obviously declined, and reported this suspicious request with the greater C-Sec network.
Officer Aldrin noticed; flagged the concern that Richard had raised with an entirely different department. But the intent was clear, Richard wanted Albert to leave him alone.
By this time Chellick's squad had gathered very little evidence. The most that they could reach for, was a warrant to visit Albert's work at Ekklos Combine, to mention the harassment complaint.
All 4 Officers, Eck, Aldrin, Clark, and Dronak met in the Lobby of Ekklos Combine. Each knowing there was little of a case here.
The encounter with Albert M, proceeded normally with hardly any interest, until Officer Aldrin made an error, and interfaced with an Ekklos Combine server. This minor sweep of the data-bank's size was enough to trigger a" “trip-wire” alarm. Aldrin realized his mistake and that Ekklos security would notice the breach.
Aldrin asked Dronak to create a distraction.
Several apologies were made and Ekklos Combine security made it clear that C-Sec had done their duty and their welcome had expired.
With nothing left in Richard’s Favor, officer Eck advised that Richard wear a listening device and meet with cousin Albert one last time. Am incriminating transmission was gathered. Blatant fraud from Albert to an unknown victim.
Although it seemed quite legitimate on the surface, Officer Clark identified some digital fingerprints that indicated that this incriminating audio-log was itself fake. Chellick issued a warrant to search Richard’s home, and shortly thereafter the audio-log was traced to Richard’s home PC.
Richard Martins was arrested and tried to falsifying a criminal report.
